What Has Your Experience Been Like With Refunds On Xbox? – Talking Point
Refunds. It’s a topic we don’t often cover here at Pure Xbox, but we’ve seen it brought up on a handful of occasions over the past few months. One of our friends over at Nintendo Life recently had an issue getting a refund as well, somehow purchasing two digital copies of Alan Wake 2, but fortunately Xbox Support was able to rectify it pretty quickly.
If you weren’t aware, Xbox does actually have a refund policy for digital purchases, and it basically states that as long as you’ve requested one within 14 days of the purchase, and you’ve only played a little bit of the game, you’ll probably see your request granted. There are a few caveats though, such as a limit on the “number and type of refunds allowed” and how much compensation Microsoft is willing to provide each Xbox user per-year.
“Refunds are typically issued for requests made within 14 days of the purchase date for games in which you haven’t accumulated a significant amount of play time.”
“There are often limits on the number and type of refunds allowed and the monetary compensation that we can provide to each purchaser in a given year.”
Historically, we’ve had a very good experience with getting refunds on Xbox. It’s typically been a quick and simple process – as long as we haven’t requested too many refunds in a calendar year – and even if it hasn’t always worked straight away, a quick chat with Xbox Support has often resolved any problems.
That said, we know that some Xbox users haven’t found it as easy. We’ve seen occasional reports where players have been unexpectedly denied a refund despite appearing to meet the requirements, and sometimes getting a resolution from Xbox’s Support team hasn’t proved as straightforward as it should be.
So, what has your experience been like with refunds on Xbox so far? How many have you requested in the past, and how smoothly did those requests go? We’d love to gather your reports about this down in the comments section below.
