Resident Evil Requiem Mini-Game DLC Is Unlocked After Beating Main Story, Is ‘Strictly Based On The Battles In The Main Game’

Koshi Nakanishi, the director on Resident Evil Requiem, has told Denfaminico Gamer that the upcoming mini-game DLC is only unlocked after completing the main story, and that it will be based on ‘the battles in the main game,’ which heavily indicates we’re getting something along the lines of The Mercenaries.
Speaking alongside producer Masato Kumazawa, Nakanishi-san wasn’t able to share any further details on the previously announced story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, but made it clear the mini-game is almost complete. Kumazawa-san added that players should probably complete the story during Japan’s Golden Week period to prepare for the DLC, which considering that takes place April 29 — May 6, implies the DLC isn’t far off.
“Regarding the additional story DLC, all I can say at this stage is that it’s currently in full production, so please look forward to it,” commented Nakanishi. “However, development on the mini-game is already in its final stages. That’s right,” he replied, when asked if the mini-game was single-player. “As we’ve mentioned, it’s a mini-game, and it’s strictly based on the battles in the main game.”
That said, I think players who’ve cleared the main game and are thinking ‘I still want to go wild’ will find these exciting and fun, so please sharpen your tomahawks and stay tuned.
“This mini-game is unlocked once you complete the main story. So, if you’re planning to play it, I think clearing the main story during Golden Week will be just the right time,” said Kumazawa.
Resident Evil Requiem was released on February 27, 2026 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The game takes place nearly 30 years after the destruction of Raccoon City (as depicted in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and its remake), and follows newcomer Grace Ashcroft and series veteran Leon S. Kennedy as they investigate a series of mysterious deaths linked to survivors of the T-Virus Outbreak in 1998. You can read our full verdict here.
