Resident Evil Requiem Receives Brilliant Live-Action Trailer Recalling The 1998 Raccoon City Outbreak

A new live-action trailer for Resident Evil Requiem has been released today, and if you’re in any way a fan of the franchise from its heydays, you absolutely need to check it out.
Starring Maika Monroe, the trailer follows a mother and daughter who are caught up in the T-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City in September 1998 (we’re first treated to some imagery of them enjoying their lives before the disaster), where they flee their home as chaos erupts around them. The producers of the trailer have captured the look and feel of 90s Resident Evil perfectly, brief flashes of retro technology, to the RPD officers on the streets and shambling zombies. It’s great, and looks like it came straight out of the games.
The action then flashes forward to a now-destroyed Raccoon City, presumably reflecting the one we’ll be revisiting in Resident Evil Requiem. And, well, I won’t spoil the rest.
Resident Evil Requiem is slated for release on February 27, 2027 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The game takes place around 30 years after the bombing of Raccoon City as depicted in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and its remake, and sees players controlling Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, who are both conducting investigations of their own in the midwest. You can read our hands-on preview here.
