WWE News & Notes Coming Out Of 8/21 SmackDown In Toronto

– Michin challenged Tatum Paxley for a match on the August 28 episode of WWE SmackDown. Paxley accepted.

– Blake Monroe didn’t end up having her in-ring debut on the WWE main roster on the August 21 episode of WWE SmackDown. She was scheduled for a match against Giulia, which was advertised heading into the show, even though it was temporarily taken down from WWE’s SmackDown preview on WWE.com. In the end, she attacked Giulia during her ring entrance and no actual official match ever took place.

– The MFTs defeated former champions Damian Priest and R-Truth to retain the WWE Tag-Team Championships in their first official defense since capturing the gold in the three-way tag-team title tilt on the August 14 episode of WWE SmackDown.

– After having her segment cut from last week’s WWE SmackDown, Paige appeared in a backstage segment on the 8/21 blue brand show in Toronto, confronting Fatal Influence and looking to capture the WWE Women’s United States Championship, which is currently held by Jacy Jayne.

– Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty was announced for the upcoming WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event special event in two weeks in Atlanta, GA. The announcement was made during the 8/21 SmackDown show. If Yachty survives five minutes with Corbin at SNME, Trick Williams will earn another shot at Corbin’s U.S. title.

– For those who missed it, a stipulation was added to Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton heading into their showdown at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.

– Following weeks of cryptic vignettes, Shinsuke Nakamura finally revealed the identity of his new mystery partner, ‘Kyoki.
