Backstage News On Unusual 8/21 WWE SmackDown Situation

There was some confusion surrounding this week’s WWE Main Event, with multiple advertised matches ultimately not making the broadcast.

Wendy Choo vs. Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa vs. Jasper Troy had both been advertised for the episode and were also included in the YouTube description. Neither match aired, however, and the listings were later removed.

The final episode ended up running just 12 minutes. The situation appears to have simply been a case of miscommunication regarding what was actually scheduled to air.

There’s no word yet on whether Choo vs. Dupri and Tozawa vs. Troy will instead be included on next week’s Main Event or if WWE has no plans to air the matches.

There was also some confusion surrounding tonight’s SmackDown. Several previously announced matches disappeared from WWE.com’s official preview for much of Friday before eventually being restored.

In that case, the issue is believed to have simply been a website error. Once WWE became aware of the problem, the matches were added back to the SmackDown preview.
