My Prediction About 2 AEW Stars Proven True

Dax Harwood believes Mark Davis could have an even bigger long-term upside than many fans may have initially expected.

During an appearance on the This is a Revolution podcast (full episode below), Harwood looked back on FTR’s match against Aussie Open’s Davis and Kyle Fletcher for NJPW in the United Kingdom in 2022. Harwood recalled speaking with Davis afterward and making a prediction about how the two would eventually be received once they began establishing themselves as singles wrestlers.

Harwood felt Fletcher would naturally attract attention first due to his look, athleticism and overall presentation, but predicted Davis would eventually connect with fans in a major way.

“I told Mark Davis that night after our match was over — and I said it in front of Kyle too,” Harwood said. “I said Kyle is going to get the immediate attention of everybody when they started to break out. I said Kyle is going to get the immediate attention of everybody because he’s good-looking, he’s athletic, in great shape, tall, he’s got all of it to be a superstar. He is and will continue to be a superstar for AEW. But when you [Davis] get the opportunity to get over, you’re going to get over huge and stay over and people are going to fall in love with you. And I think I’ve been proven right over the last four months. And he is incredible. One of my favorite guys that I’ve ever stepped in the ring with.”

Harwood went on to call Davis one of the most underrated wrestlers in the world, while also noting that the AEW star has delivered some of the hardest chops he has ever taken.

While Harwood isn’t sure whether Davis will ultimately reach the top of AEW and capture the World Championship, he believes Davis deserves the opportunity. In fact, Harwood said that if he were running his own promotion, Davis would get that chance.

“Davis is incredible, man,” Harwood said. “I don’t know if he’ll ever be a World Champion. If it were my company, I’d for sure give him the opportunity to be.”
