Backstage Update On Recent High-Profile WWE Departure
More details have surfaced regarding Patrick Dooley’s recent departure from WWE.
As previously reported, Dooley quietly exited the company in July after serving as WWE’s Senior Vice President of Global Strategy & Creative Operations. He had been with WWE since 2018 and was considered a key figure behind the scenes, particularly as Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s right-hand man when it came to non-creative business matters.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter at F4WOnline.com, the decision to part ways with Dooley reportedly came from the very top of TKO, specifically at the Ari Emanuel and Mark Shapiro level.
The move is said to have caught people within WWE by surprise, particularly due to Dooley’s close working relationship with Levesque and his involvement in several major company initiatives.
“Dooley had a close relationship with Levesque, particularly on all non-creative matters,” Meltzer wrote. “He came to the company in 2018 at Director of Global Strategy and was a key part of the acquisition of AAA and getting AAA its FOX Latin America television deal. The only thing we know is that this decision came from the top, as in the Emanuel/Shapiro level and that those in WWE were surprised.”
