Dragon’s Dogma II Microtransactions Are Being Removed Ahead Of Dark Arisen Release, Base Game To Receive Discount

Capcom has announced that it’s giving the boot to Dragon’s Dogma II micro transactions ahead of the release of the Dark Arisen expansion late this year.

Speaking in a post on the series’ official X account, the developer revealed that the Deluxe Edition will be discontinued as well as “certain DLC items” on June 24 at 5.00pm PST (June 25, 1.00am BST). Among the items being discontinued will be the A Boon for Adventures — New Journey, Makeshift Gaol Key – Escape from Gaol, Wakestone – Restore the Dead to Life, plus the 500, 1500, and 2500 Rift Crystal variations.

In addition to the above, Capcomn announced that the standard version of Dragon’s Dogma II will be discounted permanently from June 25, with a price yet to be revealed. “We hope you bring the same passion to Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, as you did Dragon’s Dogma 2,” added the publisher.

The news follows Capcom’s plans to release two major updates for Dragon’s Dogma II ahead of Dark Arisen’s launch, the first of which came out last week and includes the Eternal Ferrystone Fast Travel item and various adjustments.

Dragon’s Dogma II was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in March 2024. Fans had been clamouring for a proper expansion to be release for the sequel, and finally, Capcom announced Dark Arisen last week with a release date of October 9. You can read our full review of Dragon’s Dogma II here.
