Marathon Season 2: NIGHTFALL Set For June Release, Brings New Night Marsh Zone, Runner Shell & More

Bungie has announced that Marathon Season 2: NIGHTFALL is going to start rolling out on June 2, 2026, with a full reveal detailing the various new content set for May 25.

For now, the developer has teased a number of fresh goodies that will be coming with Marathon’s second season, including the new Night Marsh Zone, a new Runner Shell, and new weapons. Beyond that, a Stat Customisation System: The Cradle will be released, while faster faction progression and various quality-of-life updates will be included.

While on the subject of Marathon, it was revealed by Sony during its latest financial results earlier this week that the format holder posted a $765 million impairment loss due to Bungie’s titles underperforming due FY25, which includes Marathon. The developer has however been busy keeping things ticking over with various patches, with the most recent one arriving on May 5 and addressed a number of issues including grenade in-run stack sizes and the C.A.R.R.I armory.

A report on Forbes last month claimed that Bungie had spent around $200 million developing Marathon, and confirmed that previous reports of the game hitting 478,000 daily active users on its first weekend were accurate, although noted the figure has since dropped by over 100,000.

Marathon launched for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in March 2026.
