Baldur’s Gate III & Divinity: Original Sin 2 Sales Jump On Back Of Larian’s Divinity Announcement

The announcement of Divinity has seen a major spike in sales for Baldur’s Gate III and Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian Studios head honcho Swen Vincke has said.
Sales for both BG3 and D:OS2 have been incredible since the announcement of Divinity. D:OS2 really surprised us by having its best month since release in 2017. Wish I’d removed the squirrel in time 🙂
It’s not just sales that have been on the rise, as players who already own both games have returned to get stuck back in on the action. Baldur’s Gate III for example is still enjoying 100,000 concurrent players more than two-and-a-half years after its launch, while Divinity: Original Sin 2 also benefitting from a jump in players to the tens of thousands.
Divinity was announced during The Game Awards 2025 with a particularly gruesome debut trailer. Last month, Larian Studios revealed during a Reddit AMA that the game will feature co-op at launch, and Vincke recently commented that it’s having to undertake optimisations it wouldn’t usually do at this stage due to the increased price of RAM.
Divinity is a brand new entry in the franchise that Vincke has previously stated is “our biggest, most ambitious RPG yet,” but a press release for the project said that it “doesn’t require experience with previous Larian titles.” Fans of the original Divinity and its sequel will benefit from having played those games, though, as they will have a better understanding of the lore and world.
