PlayStation’s Unannounced Games Slate For Next Few Years Is ‘Unbelievably Positive,’ Says Sony 3rd Party Games Boss

The head of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s second and third party content, Christian Svensoon, has revealed that the console manufacturer’s unannounced games slate is looking extremely positive, and reckons the industry should be a little more optimistic about its future.

Speaking with The Game Business, Svennson revealed that he’s aware of a number of titles that are coming down the pipeline, given that his team is responsible for supporting creators who want to develop games for the PS5. Looking ahead, he feels the industry should be a little more positive about is future, noting that developers and publishers are making “very smart decisions,” and that the next few years will yield some great software releases from PlayStation.

In the future, there’s going to be more touch points with players than ever, and figuring out how to navigate the number of devices, the number of audience segments, and finding your audience for your game, that’s going to continue to be where the challenge is. I’m in an incredibly privileged position to have amazing visibility into what games will be for the next 3, 4, 5 years. I literally cannot explain to you… last year was an amazing year for games.

This year will be even better. Next year will be better still. The trajectory of content is unbelievably positive. And we as an industry should be super optimistic about where we’re going in spite of the headwinds.

Obviously, the decisions we’re making now take into account where we are at this moment. We’re anticipating where we’re going to be. There are no dire times for the industry ahead as far as I’m concerned. Very smart decisions are being made by our partners and by platforms. Be more comfortable than you think you should be.

The rest of this year is looking pretty solid for PlayStation gamers, with the likes of Marvel’s Wolverine set to arrive in September and the fact Saros has just come out. Among some of the unannounced projects that Svensson mentioned could be the new God of War game that’s rumoured to be in development, which allegedly features Kratos’ wife Faye as the main character alongside.

In addition to that, a brand new Uncharted game is also reportedly in development and is supposedly being helmed by Shaun Escayg, who was the co-director alongside Kurt Margenau on 2017’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
