Xbox Dedicates Entire Showcase To Stranger Than Heaven, Releasing Winter 2026 On Game Pass

Today’s first edition of the “Xbox Presents” showcase has just finished, with this one being entirely focused on the new RGG Studio game known as Stranger Than Heaven – now confirmed to be releasing at some point in Winter 2026.
You can watch the entire showcase up above, which goes into detail about the backstory behind the game, some of the main characters in it (including an appearance from Snoop Dogg), and of course, how the gameplay works.
It also introduces the cities you’ll explore, including Kokura, Fukuoka in 1915, Kure, Hoshima in 1929, Miniami, Osaka in 1943, Atami, Shizuoka in 1951 and Kamurocho, Shinjuku in 1965 — in which you’ll follow the lives of protagonist Makoto Daito and his friend Yu Shinjo in a story that involves crime, ambition, showmanship, tragedy, identity, history, fate, and a conclusion that apparently “almost no-one could predict”.
We’ve been massive fans of most RGG Studio titles up to this point (the Yakuza series, Like a Dragon, Judgment, etc.), and Stranger Than Heaven is shaping up to be another must-play title from the team.
As mentioned, it releases at some point later this year, and it’ll be day one on Xbox Game Pass!
“Stranger Than Heaven is an entirely new action-adventure game from RGG Studio and – as we revealed at Xbox Partner Preview in March – takes place over five distinct eras of modern Japan, and across five entirely separate cities.”
