SEGA Files Trademark For Bonanza Bros. Golden Heist, Sparking Hope For A Revival Of The Classic 90s Stealth-Action Game

A trademark for Bonanza Bros. Golden Heist was filed by SEGA on April 14 but has largely gone unnoticed until now, sparking hope that a revival of the classics 90s franchise could be on the cards.
For those unaware, the original Bonanza Bros. was released for the arcades back in 1990 and was among the first titles to utilise the Sega System 24 arcade system board, and was eventually ported to the Mega Drive, Master System, and home computers. The game take the form of a stealth-based side-scrolling action title, where players take on the role of siblings Robo and Mobo — who are supposedly based on The Blues Brothers — and navigate stages while avoiding conflict with guards and obtain items within the time limit.
SEGA has included Bonanza Bros. In numerous compilations since the game’s released including them Japanese release of Sonic Gems Collection, the PS2’s Sega Ages release, the Sega Genesis Collection, and Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection.
While nothing has been announced about a new Bonanza Bro.s game yet, we know that SEGA is on something of a retro revival kick, having previously announced new instalments in a number of classic franchises including Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and more. It also announced an initiative, SEGA Universe, which puts the spotlight on classic IPs including those that are celebrating major milestones this year.
There’s a chance that Bonanza Bros. Golden Heist could be a brand new entry in the series, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
