Xbox Is Re-Evaluating Its Approach To Exclusivity, With New CEO Asha Sharma Saying ‘I Want To Make The Right Decision, Not The Fastest Decision’

News has emerged that Microsoft is looking to ‘re-evaluate’ its approach to exclusivity going forward under the direction of its new CEO Asha Sharma, who has saids that no decisions have been made yet but the format holder made it clear they are not rushing anything.
Speaking with GameFile, Sharma, who was only appointed CEO of Xbox back in February 2026 following the departure of Phil Spencer, noted that decisions in regards to exclusivity from the Microsoft camp are “long-swinging decisions that have decade-long impact.”
“We’ll take a data-driven approach and a strategic-driven approach, and then we’ll look at our principles and we’ll make some calls. So we’ll share more when we’re ready,” she added. When pushed in regards to a time frame on the decision, the executive replied, “nothing we’re ready to commit to. I want to make the right decision, not the fastest decision.”
While the jury’s still out on what Microsoft is going to do regarding exclusivity under Sharma’s leadership, the company has already committed to releasing a number of major titles on PS5 this year. Among the games planned to ship for Sony’s system are Halo: Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6, and Fable.
