Resident Evil Requiem Director On Who Leon Kennedy Is Married To: ‘The Answer Will Become Clear Some Day’

Koshi Nakanishi, the director on Resident Evil Requiem, has touched base on a rapidly-growing topic regarding the identity of Leon’s ‘significant other,’ after a piece concept art you can unlock in the game clearly show that the one-time rookie cop is wearing a wedding ring.
Fans have been speculating since the game’s launch about who Leon could be married to, with obvious choices being Ada Wong and Claire Redfield. Then again, there’s some fans who are hoping it’s actually Chris — we simply don’t know at the point. However, speaking with Eurogamer, Nakanishi-san has said that we will get answers, but clearly isn’t about to spill the beans just yet.
The answer will become clear some day, but not just yet. What we wanted to convey in the final scene is simple: Leon now has a ‘place to go home to’, and we hope you can imagine the peaceful moments he spends there. Leon is a man who says very little about the things that truly matter, but he would sacrifice himself without a second thought to save a life right in front of him. So what does his ring signify? Resolve? Or a vow? He may never voice the answer himself, but for now, after finishing a long battle, he has a ‘place to go home to’. Isn’t that enough?
Resident Evil Requiem was released on February 27, 2026 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The game has sold over six million copies worldwide, becoming the fastest-selling entry in the franchise to reach that milestone. Leon is one of two playable characters in the game, the other being Grace Ashcroft, an FBI agent who is the daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak’s Alyssa.
Capcom is celebrating 30 years of Resident Evil in 2026, with the original game launching in Japan on March 22, 1996 for the PlayStation under the title Biohazard.
