Hazelight Studios Boss Josef Fares Confirms Development Has Kicked Off On Its Next Project

Split Fiction developer Hazelight Studios has kicked off production on its next project, the company’s outspoken founder, Josef Fares, has revealed on X.
Fares shared an image of himself in a motion capture outfit, and behind him there’s three actors also in mo-cap suits with Fares’ arm blocking their faces to shield their identity. “Next game in the making,” said Fares.
Back in March 2025, Fares appeared on the Friends Per Second podcast to reveal that Hazelight Studios was turning its attention its new game just weeks after the release of Split Fiction. Fares described himself as “fully focussed” on the mystery project, although it has still yet to receive an official title.
“For me personally, every time a game is out, I’m kind of done with it. I’m kind of like. ‘OK, now it’s the next thing,’ but this has been a bit extra special because I would say that it’s been the best-received game we have done,” said Fares at the time.
Split Fiction launched on March 6, 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, and by early May had sold over four million copies worldwide. A movie adaptation is currently in production that will feature Sydney Sweeney.
