Take-Two Boss Denies Reports That Grand Theft Auto VI Will Miss A Physical Release At Launch

The CEO of Take-Two has denied reports that Grand Theft Auto VI will not receive a physical release at launch.

Earlier this month, it was reported by an insider at PPE.pl that GTA VI wouldn’t receive a physical version at launch, with Take-Two instead looking to release the game digitally in order to prevent leaks. It stated that more info on this subject would arrive in mid-February, so more info on the topic could drop soon.

Speaking during an interview with Variety, Strauss Zelnick was asked if the publisher was planning on delaying the physical release of the highly anticipated title, to which he responded, “That’s not the plan.” Elsewhere, Zelnick told IGN following Take-Two’s financial results that marketing for GTA VI is set to kick off this summer, and thus is confident that the game will meet its November 2026 release date.

Because any time you’re getting closer to marketing beats, you’re obviously in a place where your confidence level is as high as it can be.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

This latest instalment in the multi-million selling franchise will take place in Leonida, a fictional US state based on Florida, and follows Jason Duval and Lucia Camions, a romantically involved criminal duo. After a botched bank robbery attempt, the duo are forced to protect each other after getting caught up in a state-wide conspiracy. Locations include Vice City, which has previously appeared in the GTA series, as well as Grassrivers and Leonida Keys, which are inspired by the Everglades and Florida Keys.
