Did You Expect More From Xbox 360’s 20th Anniversary?

Well, that’s it, Xbox 360’s 20th birthday has come and gone. As you probably saw, over here at Pure Xbox we didn’t forget about the anniversary – with multiple features and nostalgia-driven retrospectives pinged over the internet in recent days. Microsoft, however? Well, it all seemed like a small footnote in Xbox’s week to be honest.

On the eve of the anniversary itself, Microsoft changed its Xbox social channels to celebrate Xbox 360’s 20th birthday. That was quickly followed up by a cool look back at the console’s welcome video from 2005, and we thought this might signal an even bigger celebration come November 22nd. In the end, nothing substantial came of it from Xbox HQ.

So, the question is, did you expect to see more from Microsoft on this? Here at PX HQ we weren’t expecting as big of a blowout as what we often get for notable OG Xbox anniversaries, but we must admit we wanted to see a bit more fanfare than some basic social posts. After all, the Xbox 20th anniversary event was amazing; a proper celebration of the big green box back in 2021.

Some more backwards compatible additions, some ActiBlizz Xbox Game Pass announcements, some limited edition hardware/accessories – those sorts of things would have been fantastic. We know the Xbox Series X|S era feels like it’s drawing to a close now, but the nostalgia card is usually worth playing; we’d have lapped up this stuff had it happened!
