SanDisk Announces Three New Expansion Cards For Xbox Series X|S

When Xbox Expansion Cards were first announced as a form of storage for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S back in 2020, we were hopeful but not exactly confident they’d continue being created for years to come.

The initial Expansion Card offerings from Seagate were followed by a set of alternatives from WD Black, and now SanDisk is getting in on the action with three new Xbox Series X|S Expansion Cards in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB variants.

These are part of the Optimus GX C50 range, and feature the same fast speeds as all previous Expansion Cards.

For those who aren’t fully aware, Xbox Expansion Cards were created to mimic the fast internal storage speeds of both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and they all function identically as far as we’re aware (despite being made by different manufacturers). You could just buy a cheaper external hard drive or SSD instead of an Expansion Card if you want extra storage, but because they aren’t as fast, a lot of games that are optimised for Xbox Series X and Series S won’t run directly off them.
