Mafia: The Old Country Sales Surpassed Take-Two’s Internal Expectations

The CEO of Take-Two has revealed during a chat with The Game Business that sales of Mafia: The Old Country actually surprised the publishing behemoth’s internal expectations.
According to Strauss Zelnick, this confirmed what the company had “suspected”, noting, “Which is just… if you give consumers a great narrative experience that’s a lot of fun, somewhat contained, and at a fair price, then you can have the perfect result.” Actual sales figures were not divulged, although Take-Two did reveal that the game recorded 2.9 million preorders before release day.

A SensorReport posted on LinkedIn previously estimated that Mafia: The Old Country had moved around 800,000 units in just four days across all available platforms, with the PS5 version taking the lion’s share of those sales.
Set in Sicily’s underworld during the 1900s, Mafia: The Old Country weaves a gritty mob story where players battle for survival as Enzo Favara, as he looks to prove his worth to the Family. Having grown up in a childhood of forced labor, Ezo looks to do whatever he can for a better life and cement himself as a big player in the Torrisi crime family.
