David Leitch In Negotiations To Direct The Gears Of War Movie
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Netflix’s upcoming Gears of War adaptation will be directed by David Leitch.
The Gears of Wars movie script is being penned by Jon Spahits, with franchise developer The Coalition having partnered with Netflix to bring the popular action-adventure series to the big screen. In addition to directing the feature, Leitch will also producer the project alongside his wife Kelly McCormick via the couple’s 87North banner alongside The Coalition.
Netflix acquired the rights to Gears of War back in November 2022 and hopes to also produce a mature-rated animated series based on the series after the movie has wrapped.

Gears of War was originally released for the Xbox 360 back in 2006 and received numerous sequels and a spin-off over the past 19 years. It was recently confirmed that the original title is being remastered for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in the form of Gears of War: Reloaded, and is set to launch in August.
