BioShock Movie Director Offers Update On Project, Says ‘We’re In A Pretty Good Place, Honestly’
Francis Lawrence, the director on the upcoming movie adaptation of BioShock, has offered a brief update on the film during a chat with IGN, revealing that the project is still very much in the works.
Lawrence revealed that Terminator: Dark Fate’s Justin Rhodes provided the latest draft for the BioShock movie, with previous drafts provided by Michael Green of Blade Runner 2049 fame.

I just actually just got a draft. We have a meeting with the writer tomorrow [May 7th], so that’s definitely a very strong possibility as well. It’s a tricky adaptation, so there’s lots of things to figure out and to get right. There’s regime changes at Netflix, and so things stall out and get re-energized and stall out and get re-energized, and I think we’re in a pretty good place, honestly.
Back in Jul 2024 at the San Diego Comic-Con, Roy Lee, the producer on the BioShock movie, revealed that the film was still in the works but had been scaled back as a result of budget reductions.
