Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad Killed Both The Justice League And Warner Bros. Games Revenue As WB Reports A 41% Drop In Q2 Compared To 2023
In its latest financial reports for its second quarter earnings, Warner Bros. Games reported a 41% drop in revenue compared to 2023’s Q2.
The reason for the huge drop? Well for one thing, last year WB Games published Hogwarts Legacy, which was quite literally the biggest game of 2023 in terms of sales. So in a way, there was almost no chance of actually matching or improving on those numbers in 2024.
But the other and main reason for the drop, is the poor release of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which WB already pointed out to be a “disappointing release.”
Of course it’s not entirely the fault of Suicide Squad that revenue is down so significantly, the fact is that Hogwarts Legacy created a huge gap for any financial comparisons. But this report compounds with other reports signaling that WB is struggling in its games business.
Just days ago it was reported that WB is considering selling a stake in its games division, the kind of move you only consider if you really need an influx of cash as fast as possible. Another report claimed that WB is considering a massive restructuring of itself that would split the company in two.
