Payday 3 Will Reportedly Require A Constant Internet Connection

A developer at Starbreeze Studios has confirmed that Payday 3 will require a constant Internet connection, which will probably be met with a chorus of collective groans from fans. After all, the game’s predecessor included an offline mode without the need for a permanent Internet connection.

The full exchange with the developer had the question, “Will Payday 3 have an offline mode? Like playing solo?” put forward. In response, the developer replied:

Uh… no. You will be able to play it by yourself, but I do believe you will have to have a connection in order to play (….)

Set after the ending of Payday 2, this new entry in the first-person shooter series takes place mostly in New York City and sees the original crew from Payday: The Heist are returning, with the game set in modern times to take advantage of the new technology.

Payday 3 is scheduled for release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on September 21, 2023.
