Bully Ray Says WWE’s 946 Must Explain New Members
Bully Ray praised Cruz Montana’s surprise arrival in WWE’s 946 faction, then questioned how the group will explain its growing membership. WrestlingHeadlines reported Montana’s Raw reveal after he attacked Roman Reigns. On Busted Open, Ray said the surprise worked, but warned that adding wrestlers without showing why they belong could weaken the faction’s story.
I was in so much shock, and you got me so well, that now I’m like, well, why the connection on this one? What’s the link? And I still haven’t really gotten an answer on Carmelo Hayes. So now it’s like, well, Cruz Montana also, where is the link? I get the link between the OG 946 crew, including Jaida. I don’t get the link with Carmelo yet, and I certainly don’t get the link with Cruz Montana yet.
Ray said he wants the characters to address those questions on television. His concern is about the presentation of the faction, rather than any reported problem behind the scenes.
If you don’t tell me why, then I immediately start thinking about another group. What group is that? The nWo. Because the nWo, after a while, it became, well, why is this guy in the nWo? Because there was no rhyme or reason. And I don’t want to see that happen with 946. That’s why I’m hoping 946 tells me why Carmelo. Either Royce can explain it or Carmelo can explain it. Either Royce can explain it or Cruz can explain it. But I need to know the why.
Ray also argued that the way Montana attacked Roman Reigns made the newcomer stand out immediately. He said that impact created a fresh question about the group’s internal balance.
Cruz, to me, he feels more important than Carmelo right now in the group after only one night. And one of the things that I had said early about this crew is I want them to feel like they’re equals. I get it, Royce, the founder, the mastermind, the leader, so to speak. I’m cool with it. But you can’t have people that feel more important than the others. Otherwise, the crew becomes watered down.
