Sami Zayn Turns On Kevin Owens & Attacks CM Punk On SD!

Sami Zayn made his presence felt in a major way to close out Friday night’s WWE SmackDown in Toronto.

CM Punk successfully retained the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in the main event, but Zayn ultimately played a major role in how the match ended before attacking both men afterward.

Punk and Owens battled through a competitive title match that included several close calls, with Owens hitting a frog splash onto Punk on the announce table before following up with a Swanton Bomb inside the ring for another near fall.

Late in the match, the referee was knocked to the floor during an exchange between the two. Owens capitalized by hitting Punk with a Stunner, but there was no official available to make the count. Punk then connected with the GTS, only to find himself in the same situation.

That’s when Zayn emerged.

Zayn attacked Punk at ringside and sent him into the ring post before throwing him back inside. Owens connected with another Stunner, and Zayn put the referee back into the ring, but Punk managed to kick out.

Zayn then grabbed the Undisputed WWE Championship and handed it to Owens, encouraging him to use it. Owens refused to win that way and handed the championship back to Zayn.

Zayn responded by blasting Owens with the title.

Punk immediately capitalized with another GTS and covered Owens for the three-count to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Zayn wasn’t finished.

As Punk celebrated his successful title defense, Zayn entered the ring carrying the championship. Punk turned around and was drilled with the belt. Owens then rolled back into the ring, only for Zayn to strike him with the championship as well.

Zayn delivered another title shot to Punk and angrily told the Undisputed WWE Champion that Punk had stolen the title from him.

SmackDown went off the air with Zayn standing over the aftermath of his attacks on Punk and Owens.
