Jim Ross Undergoes Successful Brain Surgery On August 12
Jim Ross has undergone successful brain surgery.
Ross underwent a “shunt” procedure on August 12 in Norman, Oklahoma, with his “Grilling JR” podcast co-host Conrad Thompson providing a positive update following the operation.
“Happy to report that our pal Jim Ross had a successful procedure this morning,” Thompson wrote via X (see post below). “I heard from his lovely daughter this morning that everything went well and good ole JR is expected to be back home by Friday!”
Thompson also asked fans to continue keeping Ross in their thoughts as he begins the recovery process.
“Please keep JR in your prayers as we hope for a speedy recovery,” he concluded.
Ahead of the procedure, Jim Ross thanked fans for the outpouring of support he had received. The 74-year-old explained that the surgery would involve drilling a hole in his skull and inserting a small tube that would help drain excess fluid from his brain.
Ross has been dealing with memory and balance issues, with the hope being that the procedure will help alleviate those problems.
Despite undergoing the operation less than three weeks before AEW All In: London, Ross has expressed hope that he will be able to make the trip overseas for the August 30 pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Thanks for the outpouring of support regarding my upcoming brain surgery.
A hole will be drilled in my skull and a small tube will be inserted reachinto my stomach to better manage/drain excess brain fluid.
I’m optimistic. Thanks to all. 🤠
