The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Sales Hit 65 Million Units Worldwide Ahead Of Its New Expansion In 2027

CD Projekt RED has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has now reached 65 million units worldwide, following news that the fantasy-RPG is set to receive a new expansion in the form of Songs of the Past in 2027.
Speaking in a press release, Michał Nowakowski, joint-CEO of CDPR, commented:
As for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it reached another notable sales milestone, with more than 65 copies of the game now sold. This translates into a huge community of gamers for whom the new expansion provides an excellent opportunity to again hit the trail with the White Wolf. We also see great potential for Songs of the Past to become the first encounter with The Witcher universe, as well as the beginning of a fresh adventure, for many gamers – even as we await the release of The Witcher 4.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was originally released for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in May 2015, and later arrived for Nintendo Switch in October 2019 and finally PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in December 2022.
The epic fantasy sequel takes place in a world inspired by Slavic folklore, and sees players controlling Gerald of Rivia, who is a monster slayer for hire (otherwise known as a Witcher), as he searches for his adoptive daughter, Ciri. As with the previous games in the series, The Witcher 3 is based on the series of fantasy novels from Andrzej Sapkowski, and was a huge critical and commercial success, picking up more than 200 Game of the Year awards. Its two expansions, Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, are included in the Complete Edition.
