The Last Of Us HBO Season 3 Casts Peter Sarsgaard As An Original Character Not Seen In The Games

Actor Peter Sarsgaard, best known for his roles in the likes of Orphan, The Skeleton Key, and The Batman, has been cast in the third season of HBO’s The Last Of Us Us, where he will be portraying an original character who didn’t appear in Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic series.

Sarsgaard’s character is known as Amon and is one of the leaders of the Seraphites, and his casting comes as The Last of Us is taking a mid-shoot hiatus, which is set to last around am month. This comes as a result of the FIFA World Cup, which is using Vancouver — the shooting location for The Last of Us — as one of the host cities for the tournament, so disruption is unavoidable.

Back in July last year, Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog revealed that he was stepping away from the HBO series to focus on the studio’s upcoming video game projects. He was heavily involved in the first and second seasons of, describing it as a “career highlight.”

In February this year it was revealed that Clea DuVall and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. had both been cast in The Last of Us Season 3, with DuVall taking on the role of a member of the Seraphites and Lendeborg. Jr replacing Danny Ramirez as Manny, a member of the WLF.

The Last of Us Season 1 focussed on Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and retold the events of the original The Last of Us, as the pair made a journey across a post-apocalyptic US. The second season told the first half of The Last of Us Part II, introducing the character of Abby Anderson (Kaitlyn Dever) and Dina (Isabela Merced), with Ellie now on a mission of revenge.
