Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake Demo Out Now On PS5

Koei Tecmo has released a free demo for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake on PS5, allowing you to sample the beginning of the game. As with most demos nowadays, your save data can be transferred over to the full version of game, which is out next week.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake overhauls the classic Japanese horror adventure romp for modern platforms, and follows twins sisters who become lost in an abandoned village plagued by vengeful spirits. The Camera Obscura remains a key mechanic in the remake, allowing you to capture and fend off the malevolent spirits, and now offers “richer and more engaging gameplay in both exploration and combat.”

Meanwhile, the game’s visuals and audio have been completely revamped, with character textures such as skin and clothing sporting meticulous attention to detail, while the Minakami Village has been recreated with a focus on light and shadow. Beyond that, new areas have been added to the game as well as side stories, further immersing players in the chilling world of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is pencilled in for release on March 12 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S.
