Originally launched on mobile in 2013, Avakin Life, the popular free-to-play social simulation game from Lockwood Publishing, has developed into a global community with over 1.5 million monthly active users and over 200 million registered users.
Now, 12 years after its original release, Avakin Life is officially available on Steam Early Access.
The Steam release marks the game’s first official expansion into the PC space and introduces its vibrant social world to a new audience just in time for Summer 2025.
The Early Access launch brings the full breadth of Avakin Life’s signature gameplay to desktop, including avatar customisation, apartment building, real-time events, and multiplayer social hubs.
The Steam version supports cross-platform progression, meaning mobile users can link their accounts and continue their journey without interruption.
Halli Bjornsson, CEO and founder of Lockwood Publishing, said: “The Steam release gives us the opportunity to view and expand the experience in new ways. It’s an exciting milestone for us, and we want to thank our amazing community for all their support during development.”
The PC build introduces visual enhancements and platform-appropriate UI refinements while staying true to the spirit of the original. Designed with accessibility and creative freedom in mind, Avakin Life empowers players to explore virtual spaces, express themselves through fashion and design, and participate in a dynamic live service world. Supported in 14 languages, the Steam version is free to download and includes access to all current live operations and events.
“This early access stage is crucial for us to listen to our community and ensure we’re bringing our most immersive experience yet on Steam.”

The development team plans to continue feature parity across platforms post-launch, ensuring all players receive the same seasonal content and event cadence.
“We know, for our players, Avakin Life is an extension of their offline world,” said Ivee Feria-Padua, product director at Lockwood Publishing. “We want their journey to be as seamless as possible across platforms. This early access stage is crucial for us to listen to our community and ensure we’re bringing our most immersive experience yet on Steam.”
The Early Access period will allow the studio to collect feedback on key areas like interface flow, stability, and new-user onboarding. Players are encouraged to share their experiences and help shape the next phase of the PC experience.
With an already dedicated player base and over a decade of live operation experience, Lockwood Publishing is entering the PC space with both confidence and care. The Early Access release is just the beginning of a broader plan to bring Avakin Life’s social vision to more players, more devices, and more creative possibilities in 2025 and beyond.
Avakin Life is available now in Early Access on Steam. The full PC launch is planned later this summer.
