Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge video games that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. Professional experience in game animation development, ideally on current/next-gen consoles.
The above description has prompted speculation among fans that Star Citizen or the Squadron 42 single-player campaign may be ported to consoles, although Could Imperium Games has long been dedicated to producing titles exclusively for the PC. Nothing official has been confirmed regarding a PlayStation or Xbox port of any of these titles yet, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Cloud Imperium Games was co-founded by Chris Roberts back in 2012 and has since grown to over 700 developers. Squadron42 is currently scheduled for release on PC in 2026, and sees players embarking on an adventure as a rookie Navy combat pilot within the Star Citizen universe. Here, you’ll jump seamlessly between dogfights and ground combat as you also get to know your crew on board a huge capital ship, while soaking up a narrative that combines action and mystery.
Star Citizen is being developed concurrently with Squadron 42, and was announced back in 2012 before being followed by a crowdfunding campaign that raised two million dollars.
