Microsoft Is Expanding Xbox Cloud Gaming To LG Smart TVs

Having first launched on Samsung TVs back in 2022, Microsoft is bringing its Xbox Cloud Gaming service to yet more television sets in 2025. This time around, Xbox is partnering up with LG to start streaming games on another batch of Smart TV devices later this year.

We’re not sure which specific TVs will be supported just yet, but given that the feature isn’t coming out until later in the year, we should see a full breakdown of which sets will work with Xbox Cloud Gaming closer to launch. Here’s what Microsoft has to say on the new partnership:

“Today, we’re excited to announce our collaboration with LG Electronics to bring the Xbox app to their new LG Smart TVs later this year. This means Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to play their games directly from the Xbox app on supported LG Smart TVs via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This gives players even more choice in how they enjoy their favorite games.”

Even though we’re slowly starting to see Xbox Cloud Gaming roll out to titles outside of the Game Pass library, today’s announcement again focuses on games within the subscription service. Microsoft says that “soon, players with LG Smart TVs will be able to explore the Gaming Portal for direct access to hundreds of games in the Game Pass Ultimate catalog”.

Earlier this year, the Xbox team also rolled out its Cloud Gaming program to certain Amazon Fire Stick models, and with the team pressing on with its new ‘This is an Xbox’ ad campaign in 2025, it’s clear that Xbox now goes well beyond a traditional gaming console.
