Concord, PlayStation’s New 5v5 Live Service Hero-Shooter Is Now Live On PS5 And PC

concord ps5 beta hands on 1

Concord, the newest game from PlayStation Studios and the latest game in PlayStation’s live-service push that was kicked off by former PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has finally arrived on PS5 and PC.

It’s arrival doesn’t come with as much fanfare as we typically see for PlayStation’s first-party titles, but even if it did you could argue it wouldn’t be much better at breaking through the noise.

Black Myth: Wukong has wound-up being one of the biggest games in the world, which launched just a few days before Concord, and a few days after will be the arrival of Star Wars: Outlaws, which for all intents and purposes is lined-up to be a huge release if only because it’s a new Star Wars game.

And on top of all this, it’s Gamescom 2024 week. This is all without even mentioning just how difficult it is to launch a successful first-person shooter in an already overcrowded and highly competitive market.

This is all necessary context for the fact that, based on its launch Concord has arrived on a flat note. It’s concurrent player count on Steam has yet to even crack 1,000, and while the ones who are playing it are enjoying it, the thing of it seems to be that not enough people are giving it a chance.

In total fairness, Concord launched today. It’s not even been a full 24 hours yet, so everything around this game could change in the coming months. Firewalk Studios for its part has said that it is ready to support the game “for years to come,” so we could see Concord in a very different light a year from now.
