Reminder: Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club demo now available
A brutal crime. An eerie smiling face. An unsettling urban legend. Who is Emio – The Smiling Man?
The Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club game is a chilling adventure where you’ll become a member of the Utsugi Detective Agency. You’ll be tasked with solving a bizarre crime that leaves a student dead, his head covered by…a smiley-faced paper bag? Hmm… The unsettling scene bears a striking resemblance to a string of unsolved murders from 18 years ago—each connected to the urban legend of a serial killer, Emio – The Smiling Man.
Does this smiling man really exist…or is the culprit continuing the urban legend’s legacy? Looks like it’s time to start questioning some witnesses…or maybe even a suspect!
The full investigation truly begins when the game launches on Aug. 29. But you don’t have to wait long to start searching for clues. You can start digging for the truth right now by downloading the free episodic demo!
You may be wondering what an episodic demo is. Good eye, detectives! Keep up the great work. This demo will be available to play in three separate chapters (or episodes):
- Available now: Prologue and Chapter 1
- Available Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. PT: Chapter 2
- Available Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. PT: Chapter 3
Once you download the demo, each additional demo chapter will automatically become playable at the times listed above. You’ll just need to make sure that your Nintendo Switch™ system is connected to the internet to receive the chapter updates. Then, if you decide to buy the full game, your save data will be transferred over. That means you won’t miss a beat in your investigation!
If you decide to start the episodic demo closer to the launch date, you’ll receive all the chapters that are available at the time of your download.
Alright, investigator. There’s a tough case ahead. Good luck!
