Microsoft Will Apparently Announce Blizzard’s New President ‘Next Week’
Xbox this week revealed it was laying off 1,900 employees and in the process, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra, who was an ex-Microsoft executive before this, also announced his departure.
There’s still obviously a lot to take in, but if you are wondering who will replace Ybarra, apparently that update will be happening as soon as next week. Yes, in case you did miss it, Microsoft will be naming a new Blizzard president next week, according to a report on Bloomberg.
Bloomberg: “Blizzard said its new president will be announced next week.”
It’s not clear who exactly will replace him, but the latest reports also reveal the company’s Chief Design Officer Allen Adham has left.
Xbox’s Matt Booty yesterday issued a statement thanking Mike for more than two decades at Microsoft and also guiding Blizzard as president. From here on out, Xbox will employ a “more focused strategy” across Microsoft Gaming to help set it up for sustainable growth and align talent and resources to the company’s “top priorities”.
