Honkai Star Rail Imbibitor Lunae element, path, and more

As we continue to march on through our Trailblazing adventure, there are many fresh faces to meet – but one that looks particularly familiar yet entirely different is Honkai Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae. This mysterious, dragon-like man who boasts such a revered title aboard the Xianzhou Luofu is definitely hiding some secrets beneath those flowing locks and garments, so let’s take a look at who he is, what his element and path are, and what ties he has to our fellow Trailblazer, Dan Heng.

If you want to know which Honkai Star Rail characters are best suited to join you on your journey, check out our Honkai Star Rail tier list, then head over to our Honkai Star Rail codes and Honkai Star Rail banners guides. We’ve also got a list of all current and upcoming Honkai Star Rail events for your perusal.

Now, let’s take a look at Honkai Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae.

Is Honkai Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae a five-star Dan Heng?

In short, yes – Imbibitor Lunae is a five-star Dan Heng. From what we know so far, Honkai Star Rail’s Dan Heng has some form of secret power that he has hidden or forgotten in an attempt to escape his past since joining the Astral Express.

It appears that something will happen during our adventure aboard the Xianzhou Luofu, and Dan Heng’s power will awaken, leading to him transforming into his powerful, dragon-like form. However, we’re not sure how this is all gonna go down just yet, so we guess we’ll have to wait until Hoyoverse continues the main story quest line in the next Honkai Star Rail update.

Who is Honkai Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae?

As mentioned above, it seems that Imbibitor Lunae is Dan Heng’s true form. He appears as a human with turquoise horns, pointed ears, and long, flowing hair. In his splash art, we see him summoning a dragon made of water.

In this official tweet from the Honkai Star Rail Twitter account, Hoyoverse describes him as the ‘High Elder of the Luofu’ and ‘bearer of the Azure Dragon’s legacy’ who ‘brings forth clouds and rain’ and is ‘entrusted with the duty of guarding the Ambrosial Arbor’. This suggests that he previously held a very high rank on the Xianzhou Luofu.

However, during the main story quest line in version 1.0, we see that the Xianzhou Luofu banished Dan Heng and forbade him from setting foot there again, so something dramatic must have happened for Dan Heng to lose his revered title.

We first caught a glimpse of Imbibitor Lunae in the official launch trailer, ‘Interstellar Journey’ (as seen above at 0.48) – though it was very brief, and we only saw him from behind. Ever since, we’ve all been curious about how he fits into the narrative, and how Dan Heng will reveal his true identity. Hopefully, we’ll find out more when version 1.2 rolls around.

What is Imbibitor Lunae’s element and path?

In the official splash art, we can see that Imbibitor Lunae is a five-star imaginary damage dealer who treads the path of the Destruction. Characters who align with the Destruction deal outstanding amounts of damage and possess great survivability, making them a great fit for a wide range of combat scenarios.

To get an idea of what type of damage dealer Imbibitor Lunae will be, here’s a list of other Destruction characters:

Is Honkai Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae a Vidyadhara?

So, upon seeing his dragon-like features, you may be wondering whether Imbibitor Lunae or Dan Heng is a Vidyadhara. The short answer is, we don’t know just yet. The only Vidyadhara we’ve met so far is Honkai Star Rail’s Bailu, who also hails from the Xianzhou Luofu. However, the only clear ties between Dan Heng’s Imbibitor Lunae form and Bailu’s appearance beyond their home are the short, antler-like horns, pointed ears, and their apparent relationship with dragons – oh, and Imbibitor Lunae appears to lack that big, scaly tail that Bailu lugs around.

However, as we currently know so little about Imbibitor Lunae, it’s a possibility that he’s a Vidyadhara. He was clearly an elite among the people of the Xianzhou Luofu, and, in a similar case to Genshin Impact’s Zhongli being the ‘Prime Adeptus’ (which technically makes him fall into a similar category as Genshin Impact’s Xiao and Geshin Impact’s Ganyu, only at a higher level of ‘illumination’), it could be that Imbibitor Lunae is some form of prime Vidyadhara. This is all speculation though, and we’ll have to wait and see what happens next on our exciting Trailblazing adventure.

When is Honkai Star Rail Imbibitor Lunae’s release date?

Hoyoverse is yet to confirm Imbibitor Lunae’s release date. However, as we already have drip marketing for him, we think it’s likely that we’ll get to learn more about him sooner rather than later. Currently, it looks like the next Honkai Star Rail banners will feature Honkai Star Rail’s Blade and Honkai Star Rail’s Kafka, but we think it’s likely that he will appear in the main story quest in version 1.2, then perhaps get his own banner in 1.3. Of course, we’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as we know for sure.

That’s all we’ve got on Honkai Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae so far, but rest assured that we’ll update this guide as soon as we find out more – we’re very invested in seeing our beloved Dan Heng show his true power. In the meantime, be sure to check out our other Hoyo content, including our Genshin Impact codes, Genshin Impact tier list, Genshin Impact banner, and Genshin Impact events guides.
