Summer Game Fest 2023: Xbox Games Revealed and Shown

The Summer Game Fest 2023 showcase just wrapped up and, as with every year, there was a bevy of Xbox games revealed and shown along the way. From Sonic Superstars to Space Marine 2, we got a look at numerous new titles coming to Xbox – so many, in fact, that we thought it might be useful to round up the highlights in one place.

Here’s a rundown of just some of the new games we can look forward to:

Lies of P Reveals September Release Date – Pre-Orders Open and Demo Out Now

Exciting Lies of P news from developer and publisher Neowiz was revealed – including a September 19 launch date for its highly-anticipated action RPG, with pre-orders now available. Fans were also treated to a brand-new trailer and, best of all, players everywhere can get their hands on the public demo from today! The demo features the first two chapters of the game, including challenging boss encounters, introductions to key characters, and unique areas to explore – we’ve played five hours of the demo already, and you can read about our adventures here. First Look at Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay Available Now in New Trailer

A new Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer showcased in-game action of a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe with reimagined legendary fighters, the debut of partner fighters known as Kameos (read more about that here), and offered a glimpse of the Story Mode. Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to launch for Xbox Series X|S on September 19, 2023, and those who pre-order the Premium Edition will receive early access to the game beginning September 14, 2023. All Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders will receive Shang Tsung as an in-game playable character, and those who pre-order the game for Xbox Series X|S will also receive access to the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta, which will be available in August 2023.

Sonic Superstars Is a New Take on Classic 2D Sonic Games

Get ready for a new spin on classic 2D Sonic platforming. Today, SEGA revealed Sonic Superstars, the Blue Blur’s latest adventure bringing a new standard of play and visuals to classic high-speed 2D Sonic gameplay. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose explore the mystical Northstar Islands, where they will encounter Dr. Eggman and work to stop him from converting the island’s animals into Badniks. With all-new visuals, abilities, and zones to experience, players can harness Sonic and friends’ newfound powers either solo or cooperatively with friends to take Eggman on in fresh, dynamic ways.

Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine 2 – Co-op Campaign Revealed

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive, in partnership with Games Workshop, are thrilled to showcase the co-op mode for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the explosive third-person action game that brings another level of spectacle and bombast to Games Workshop’s franchise.

Embody fan-favorite Captain Titus, and unleash deadly abilities and an arsenal of devastating weaponry to obliterate the relentless Tyranid hordes. Thanks to the 3-player co-op mode, play the full campaign with friends or AI, and take on battles over and over, ever renewing the galactic warfare experience. Space Marine 2 will launch this winter on Xbox Series X|S.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Is Coming to Xbox – First Gameplay Trailer Revealed

Free Range Games and North Beach Games delved deep with a first look at gameplay of The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria – all narrated by legendary actor John Rhys-Davies. Return to Moria is the only survival crafting video game set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, the iconic fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien. Summoned to the Misty Mountains by Lord Gimli Lockbearer, players take control of a company of Dwarves tasked to reclaim the lost spoils from the Dwarven homeland of Moria—known as Khazad-dûm or Dwarrowdelf.

Charge Into the Apocalypse With Remnant II on July 25 For Xbox Series X|S

Remnant II, from Gearbox Publishing and Gunfire Games, will be available for Xbox Series X|S on July 25. This third-person action-survival shooter pits the last remnants of humanity against harrowing forces of evil in a dynamically generated post-apocalyptic world. The new Archetype class system gives players the flexibility to build out their character how they want as they scour the lands by themselves or with two friends cooperatively. Fans who pre-order the digital Ultimate Edition of Remnant II will be able to download and get early access to Remnant II on July 21.

Sand Land, an Action RPG with an Unlikely Hero, Revealed

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden – Gameplay Reveal

Focus and Don’t Nod shared a captivating new trailer for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, the poignant action-RPG where you hunt and battle supernatural horrors to alter a tragic fate.

Play as Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, lovers and Banishers—ghost-hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters. After Antea tragically becomes one of the spirits she loathes, take on a desperate search for a way to liberate her from her new plight. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is coming end of this year to Xbox Series X|S.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando – Announced for 2024

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive partner once again to bring us John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando. Enjoy frenzied FPS in co-op with friends, and experience a buddy-movie vibe combined with over-the-top action, powered by World War Z’s spectacular Swarm Engine.

Pick a character and team up with three friends, ’cause it’s time to save the world. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone – Season 04 Revealed

Following Al Mazrah’s descent into darkness, our Operators have relocated to the recently evacuated Vondel, a waterfront district of a Baroque European city under threat of imminent attack at the hands of the infamous masked Nikto.

Season 04 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone, launching June 14, will include Vondel as a brand-new, medium sized map for Resurgence, DMZ, and later in the season for traditional Battle Royale. Expand your arsenal with four new weapons, and for premium Modern Warfare II players, deploy to seven new Multiplayer maps (six at launch), including the return of the classic Showdown map.
