Tekken 8 Cross-Play Confirmed By Katsuhiro Harada
Bandai Namco Games‘ Katsuhiro Harada has revealed in an exchange on Twitter that Tekken 8 will feature full Cross-Play.
Asked if the upcoming fighting game sequel will feature Cross-Play, he replied, Crossplay? Of course, I will.”
Elsewhere, the Tekken series boss explained that he had wanted to include the feature for Tekken 7 during the PS4 and Xbox One era, but wasn’t able to.
When the previous generation consoles were released, I had already proposed crossplay between the two platformers, However, at that time, they were at odds with each other over their mutual interests (and P2P security issue) and repeatedly refused.
Remember when they announced they were open to crossplay a few years ago? But in reality, they didn’t actively support third parties at the time, and the hurdles were actually quite high. There are still some problems left, but it will be possible.
