Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda Hopes You’ll “Look Forward To The Blockchain Games” In The Companies Pipeline

Square Enix chief executive officer Yosuke Matsuda still has hopes that players and investors will look forward to the blockchain games the company has down the pipeline.

Despite the backlash from fans regarding NFT and blockchain titles, Square Enix is determined to push forward with these projects, and could end up doing so to its own determent.

Of course none of these games have yet to release, so we still need to wait and see what shape these blockchain projects actually take. The current state of blockchain games however doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Matsuda gave this comment on upcoming blockchain games in response to an investor being concerned that sales from the Final Fantasy franchise and other major titles might be too good, too high for Square Enix to keep growing.

“Major title launches will not be concentrated solely in FY2024/3. We have organized our pipeline so that we will have a good spread of new releases in FY2025/3 and beyond as well.

We also hope that you will look forward to the blockchain games we have plan to launch in FY2024/3 and thereafter.”
