LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Was Co-Developed By Rocksteady Studios

Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham franchise, is listed as a co-developer on LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, with around 24 developers from the team having worked on the project.
As noted by VGC, Rocksteady’s input on the project included a producer, designer, and numerous programmers and artists. In addition, Warner Bros. Games Montreal, who worked on Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, also had a hand in making LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight. Unsurprisingly, this is one of the reasons why the game feels a lot like Rocksteady’s Batman series (I personally haven’t played it, for the record), which will no doubt please fans waiting for a new Batman game from the acclaimed developer.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is due out on PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on May 22, 2026. The game marries action-adventure and puzzle-solving elements and offers solo and co-op play, and has been described by Jim Lee, President of DC Comics, as a “love letter to the world of Batman.” The game features an original narrative while implementing various elements from across multiple Batman media, such as films, TV, comics books and other video games.
While many of the LEGO games have allowed players to step into the role of hundreds of different characters, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight focuses on seven playable protagonists — Batman, Jim Gordon, Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul. Each character has their own unit skills and gadgets to wield in open-world Gotham City, while the Batcave is customisable to allow for the display of numerous vehicles, Batsuits, and other items.
