Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Director Says To Expect Some ‘Drastic Decisions’ For Its Next Game That ‘People Won’t Like’

Guillaume Broche, CEO of Sandfall Interactive and director on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has revealed during a recent interview that the team will likely make some ‘drastic decisions’ that won’t go down well with everyone for its next, as-yet unannounced project.

We’re just going to do again what we really enjoyed. If people get on board, great. If not, well, too bad. We didn’t make the first game just to please people, actually. And I think that’s why it worked. So for the next game, we’ll make some drastic decisions too, and maybe people won’t like it and that fine. We have such a close-knit and cool team. It’s really the atmosphere, like a group of friends making a game. It allows us to stay really grounded. We’re going to do it again in our little studio in Montpellier.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in April 2025, and was a huge success both critically and commercially. Back in November, the team admitted it was surprised by the game’s success, with Broche telling Radio Times Gaming, “It’s going to be cool. It’s not going to be big, it’s going to be cool. And what’s happening today is like, as we say, nobody really understands what’s happening.”
