Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Resurgence Day Aims To ‘Make History’ On Xbox & Beyond This Month

It’s crazy to think that the latest version of Star Wars Battlefront 2 released all the way back in 2016!
That game has long since stopped adding new content, of course (it was marked as “complete” by the developer in April of 2020), but it continues to have its fans, and they’re aiming to keep it alive in a big way.
Enter, Resurgence Day. If you recall, we reported back in May of 2025 that Battlefront 2 had been exploding in popularity — it even racked up 160,000 concurrent players on Steam at one point — and the team behind the Kyber mod on PC is attempting to do it again with Resurgence Day 2026 on May 23rd.
As far as we know, there are no official rules here, so it’s just a case of logging on and playing some games on May 23rd to boost the player count. If BF2 manages to hit the same kind of numbers as last year, that’ll be pretty impressive.
Don’t forget that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is already included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as part of EA Play as well, or you can pick it up for the low price of just £4.99 / $4.99 on the Xbox Store right now.
Yes, this game got off to a terrible start a decade ago, but it’s a credit to the devs that it’s now beloved here in 2026!
