Xbox Founder Invited To Microsoft HQ By Asha Sharma, Says It Was ‘Amazing’ And ‘Bizarre’

Ever since Asha Sharma took the role of Xbox boss in February, she’s appeared to be taking advice from a wide range of people throughout the industry, and the latest example arrives in the form of Xbox co-founder, Seamus Blackley.

Blackley played a key role in shipping the original Xbox 25 years ago (to the point where he’s even known as the “Father of Xbox”), and even though he hasn’t been involved with the brand directly since 2002, he’s clearly still passionate about it, and has regularly shared his opinion about it in interviews.

And now, as you can see from the post below, he was recently invited to visit Team Xbox at Microsoft:

Blackley’s visit comes just a couple of months after he hit the headlines for fearing that Microsoft could be planning to “sunset” the Xbox brand. In the same interview, he also shared multiple tips for Asha Sharma, insisting that she should go and talk to “leaders about how they succeeded and failed in the business”, highlighting the likes of Reggie Fils-Aimé, Phil Harrison, Shuhei Yoshida and Peter Moore as great examples of these leaders.

It sounds like Sharma took this to heart by inviting Blackley himself to Microsoft HQ, and we’ve already seen that she’s not one to shy away from criticism, recently inviting former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden for a “chat” following his criticisms of Xbox Game Pass. Clearly, she has a lot of respect for these industry veterans.

Anyway, it’s great to see Blackley returning to where it all started for Xbox over two decades ago, and we think it’s great that Asha Sharma is exploring all angles and building her knowledge of the gaming world in as many ways as possible.
