Beyond Good & Evil 2 Creative Director Says Ubisoft Is ‘Committed And Focused On Delivering A Remarkable Game’

Fawzi Mesmar, Creative Director on Beyond Good & Evil 2, has moved to reassure fans that the sequel is still in development and that Ubisoft remains committed to the project.
The Assassin’s Creed publisher announced earlier this month that it was undergoing a major company overhaul, which included cancelling six projects including the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and delaying seven other titles. Beyond Good & Evil 2 was later revealed to have survived the cancellations at Ubisoft, and remains in the works at one of the four ‘creative houses’ that the publisher is now spit into (each one focussing on a particular number of a franchise).
In wake of this, Mesmar has issued a statement on the status of Beyond Good & Evil 2, assuring fans that the team is focussed on “delivering a remarkable game for our players to enjoy.” Here’s the full statement posted on LinkedIn:
Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me over the past few days in regards to recent news at Ubisoft. Myself, my team and our project Beyond Good and Evil 2 are unaffected by the recent changes. I would direct you to the official press release for more information around the latest organisational structure.
Needless to say, I am saddened by the cancellations that has affected my colleagues in other parts of Ubisoft and the industry. I urge everyone – myself included – to offer support whenever and however they can during these times. We remain committed and focused on delivering a remarkable game for our players to enjoy.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in the works in some for another since 2008, but went dark for years until it resurfaced in its current form at E3 2017. Ubisoft has never committed to any specific platform for the game. Emile Morel was the original creative force behind the game, but after he tragically passed away in July 2023, Mesmar took over the role and has remained there ever since as Beyond Good & Evil 2 continues development.
