Assassin’s Creed Shadows To See ‘Chunkier Updates To Shake Things Up’ In 2026, But Not On The Size Of Claws Of Awaji DLC

Simon Lemay-Comtois, Associate Game Director on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has revealed during a chat with JorRaptor that the stealth-action title will receive “chunkier” and more frequent updates in 2026, but won’t be on the size of the Claws of Awaji DLC.

As of now, at this moment for Year Two, there is no expansion on the size of [Claws of Awaji] that is planned, currently. We’re still working on content for post-launch and supporting it, but it’s not a full-on DLC the way a season pass would have had in previous years.

The development team is instead going to focus on “chunkier updates that shake things up,” with Lemay-Comtois comparing future content drops to the recently-launched Attack on Titan collaboration. As such, fans should expect content “like yesterday’s update, plus…something, at minimum, this size.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in March 2025. Ubisoft recently launched a new update for the game, version 1.1.6, which added a new story quest, the aforementioned Attack on Titan collaboration, plus a number of bug fixes and other improvements.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows initially attracted controversy from some pockets of fans for its inclusion of a black samurai, Yasuke, who is based on an actual historical figure. Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot touched base on this backlash during a talk at Paris Game Week earlier this month, describing the situation as a “battle with our fans” that ultimately made the publisher realise it had to “stop focusing on those who hated us.”

Despite early criticism, Assassin’s Creed Shadows ultimately attracted strong reviews from critics (you can read PSU’s verdict here), and in August 2025 it was reported the game was the best-selling new title of the year so far, ahead of Mario Kart World and Monster Hunter Wilds.
