Rumour — Halo 2 & Halo 3 Remakes Are In Development, But Will Only Include The Campaign

According to a report on reliable X account Halo Leaks, Halo Studios is working on full-blown remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3, although much like the upcoming Halo: Campaign Evolved, they won’t include a competitive multiplayer component.

Halo Leaks also added that the next full mainline entry in the series will feature multiplayer, and is a proper sequel to Halo Infinite. The account added that they don’t know when any of these projects will be announced, but has said that sprint will be included in Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes.

No ETA on when these could be announced, same source that told me about the remake & it’s mechanics also told me Halo 2 & 3 were being remade to. It’s possible they’re using Halo Campaign Evolved to judge whether a Halo 2 & 3 remake would be viable, but this is just guessing.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full remake of the 2001 shooter’s single-player campaign, and marks the first time in the franchise’s history that a Halo game will be available on a PlayStation console. Interestingly, prior to the game’s announcement, it was rumoured that Halo: The Master Chief Collection would be coming to PS5; it would seem that instead of porting these remasters, Halo Studios has instead opted to develop full remakes instead.

Nothing official has been announced by Microsoft yet, so take all this with a pinch of salt for the time being.
