Project Gravity – SSX Spiritual Successor Loses Publisher
The plan for Project Gravity included live-service and free-to-play elements. It aimed for an “arcadey, amazing-feeling, very accessible, competitive and fun” snowboarding experience. The focus was to capture what fans loved about SSX’s over-the-top trick mechanics and energetic style.
However, 2K has since pulled out as a publisher. Because of this, Project Gravity faces uncertain prospects. Industry reports cite loss of funding after the publisher’s withdrawal. It remains unclear whether the project will continue in a different form.
For PlayStation fans, this means the hoped-for SSX successor may not arrive under the original plan. Although Project Gravity isn’t doomed yet, its future is now in doubt. Meanwhile, the SSX series itself has had no new entries since 2012. Fans are watching closely for any revival of the franchise.
