Every announcement from the September 2025 Nintendo Direct

The recently announced Nintendo Direct for September 12 has had us waiting with bated breath. It aired at 1 pm UTC / 6 am PT (that’s 2 pm for any UK folk), and gave us a lot of information about upcoming games and projects happening on the Switch family of consoles.

A Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase in July gave us some expectations for this one, but there are plenty of new Switch games to pore over. Whether you’re waiting for the new Mario game, the new Animal Crossing game, or even a new Zelda game, the Switch 2 has something for you.

Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The rumors were correct, we’re getting The Super Mario Galaxy Movie releasing in April, 2026! A sequel to the excellent 2025 movie hits cinemas and takes us into the stratosphere in an out-of-this-world story.

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Switch

At long last, we’re getting Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy on the Nintendo Switch. The games come out as a double pack on October 2, 2025. There are also two new amiibo figures of Mario and Rosalina scheduled for next year.

Mario Tennis Fever

Coming to the Switch 2 is the next entry into the fabulous Mario Tennis franchise – Mario Tennis Fever. New maneuvers, moves, and rackets await you on the court. There are 38 characters to choose from, which you can use in the different game modes, including tournament and Trial Towers.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Super Mario Bros. Wonder brings a new area, Bellabel Park, packed with multiplayer fun, to the Switch 2, along with upgraded graphics and performance. The new edition is due to release in spring 2026.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

A storybook-based adventure featuring everyone’s favorite dino, Yoshi, arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2. Since Woolly World, we’ve been waiting for another adorable game featuring Yoshi, so this is immediately on our list for 2026.

Storm Lancers

This retro-inspired adventure arrives today on Nintendo Switch. It’s a co-op roguelike with some pretty cool visuals.

Dinkum

Fancy another farming game with some adventure? Dinkum is for you. You can take part in festivals, make friends, and find cool creatures in the overworld while you build up your town. It arrives on November 5, 2025.

Popucom

This multiplayer game, where you have to throw colored slime-like creatures at items to move them, is coming to Switch soon. Work together to solve puzzles, fight bosses, and pop slimes all over the place.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

After getting an announcement what seems like forever ago, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream now gets a release window of Spring 2026. The zany life-sim lets you live how you want. Make your friends, family, and anyone you want, and then watch them as they interact in some silly situations.

Hades 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

The sequel to the incredible roguelike comes to Nintendo Switch with its own edition. Head back into the underworld in Hades 2 with new weapons, fight new bosses, and unravel more than you bargained for. The game comes out on September 25, 2025.

Kirby: Air Riders amiibo figures

Two brand new Bandana Waddle Dee and Kirby amiibo figures release with the game, and a fun fact – you can swap their bases over!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

New details came out about the next Hyrule Warriors game, including showing off playable characters such as a korok. You can also pair up with another character to release devastating moves – this includes in co-op mode! The game comes out on November 6, 2025.
