Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is 2025’s Best-Selling New Game So Far, Beating Monster Hunter Wilds & Mario Kart World
GSD data has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows current ranks as the best-selling new video game of 2025, beating out stiff competition from the likes of Monster Hunter Wilds and Mario Kart World.
The key term here is ‘new,’ as if we’re talking the actual best-selling video game overall so far this year, then that crown goes to EA Sports FC 24, which arrived in autumn 2024. According to data, a total of 71 million PC and console titles were shift across major European regions as of July 28, 2025, which represents a 6% drop year-on-year.

Other titles that have performed well this year include Monster Hunter Wilds, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Meanwhile, Hazelight Studio’s Split Fiction is the best-selling new IP of the year (so far), which made sixth position on the European games chart.
